Everyone needs to remember that OCR (Office of Civil Rights) requires reporting of any Privacy Breaches between Sept 23, 2009 and Dec 31, 2009 by March 1, 2010. If you have questions on how to do that jsut ask me!

I am analyzing Meaningful Use for AHIMA. Let me know if anyone has questions on my HIPAA privacy Toolkit, I hope to finish this week or MU…kmclendon@hixperts.com
Also we posted a 2 Day seminar with Mike Lowe, Esquire and myself in Tampa on February 25 - 26th. Looks like we may do Ocala in March as we had a great turn out at hospice for a 2 hour session last week.

I am working on analysis of Meaningul Use Interim Final Rules for AHIMA, so I’ll also have access to all their thoughts, it’s a good group of experts.
If anyone has questions on Meaningful Use (MU) or certified EHRs just let me know…

The enforcement actions begin soon. We are seeing an unprecedented interest in educational sessions on Privacy and MU. Be sure to check out our 2 day legal health record, MU and Privacy seminars coming up in Tampa and Ocala.
I had way over 100 attendees in Ft Myers on saturday and a nice group in Miami as well.

Be sure to report your breaches for 2009 to OCR by March 1. If you need tools, policies, procedures, training, logging forms, etc. Let Health Information Xperts tell you about our Privacy Compliance Manual which has all of them in easy to use formats.

Well as far as I can tell healthcare reform does not really impact us in HIM all that much. The stimulus plan has much more for us to be concerned with day to day in our operaions from HIPAA and Meaningful use.

Kelly McLendon just completed a new digital copier hard drive maintenance policy in order to ensure no stored images are available for HIPAA violations or breaches. Look for this policy template within the new store in the near future.
